Shambhala Day 2020 at the St. Johnsbury Center - Year of the Iron Mouse

    Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the New Year, and is one of the most important holidays of the Shambhala mandala. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year's celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, falling this year on February 24. This is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality and elegance.  

    The St. Johnsbury Shambhala community is cheerfully invited to participate in celebrations at Karmê Chöling in Barnet, VT on February 24.

    Many local Shambhala Centers plan activities throughout the week following the New Year’s Day, and ours will be on Saturday, February 29. Everyone is warmly invited to celebrate Shambhala Day 2020 and the Year of the Iron Mouse at the St. Johnsbury Shambhala Center.  Here's the tentative schedule:

    3:00Gather and set up the shrine room 
    3:30Lhasang and throwing of the I-Ching to forecast the year for the St. Johnsbury Shambhala Center
    4:30Brief community gathering, welcoming of new Center members and distribution of practice books
    5:00Cocktail party with potluck hors d oeuvres - please bring a dish to share
